Developing Sensible Energy Policies
Energy costs in Connecticut are amongst some of the highest in the nation. From residents to business owners, everyone is suffering as shut off notices arrive in the mail and consumers limit their travel because of the high cost of the gasoline tax.
As governor, Joe will
- Create a task force to evaluate streamlining the permitting process and reducing regulatory and zoning restrictions that prevent the development of efficient energy resources, such as power plants, transmission lines, and gas line in the state.
- Promote sensible energy efficiency programs to reduce the demand for energy.
- Develop more economical means of commuting such as high speed electric rail service from New Haven to Hartford as well as into new corridors. This will also meet the future need to provide transportation for an aging population that will be less able to rely on driving themselves.
