Second Amendment Rights
In response to the tragedy that occurred in Sandy Hook, well-intentioned but reactionary legislation was passed without public hearing, resulting in a law that does absolutely nothing to prevent a similar tragedy. The law instead puts the safety of ordinary citizens at risk and has instantly turned hundreds of thousands of law abiding citizens into potential felons.
As governor, Joe will
- Submit a bill to repeal all of Senate bill 1160.
- Direct the state legislature to hold public hearings on mental health issues and school safety.
- Fund school safety programs to provide armed police officers or security guards to protect our children in every school in Connecticut.
- Fund mental health initiatives which may help identify and provide medical care to people who may be a threat to themselves and others.
